Second four-month period of 2012
The program carried out in this period has been focused mainly into the activities of CLWG inside the 73rd Multi-hall International Congress SCIVAC held in Rimini from June 8th to 10th. Indeed, in that event the entire afternoon of Saturday June 9th has been devoted to the presentations on canine leishmaniasis organized by CLWG. The session chaired by Prof. Lubas was arranged in the following schedule for the main speeches:
Dr. Fondati presented a speech entitled “Follow-up, prognosis and monitoring of the dog affected by leishmaniasis”
Dr. Zatelli presented a speech entitled “Pathogeneses and management of proteinuria in the dog affected by leishmaniasis”.
First four-month 2012
In the meeting of March 2nd 2012 in Rome the detailed activity of 2012 was organized.
In the occasion, the CLWG confirmed that are still lacking evidence of the efficacy of domperidone in canine leishmaniosis due to a reduced number of papers to support the action of this drug. In addition, the CLWG stated the same questioning for the action of the vaccine that will be launched in the Italian market from Virbac (CaniLeish®). The CLWG regret that the scientific documentation supporting the vaccine introduction was available only after the product was already disclosed to the common media directed to the consumers besides dog’s owner.
