First trimester 2010
The publication in the Journal of American Veterinary Medical Association of the guidelines prepared by CLWG is rapidly approaching. Indeed, the proof of the articles has been reviewed and the following final titles and list of authors included in the papers have been already indicated:

In the months of January and February the scientific committee of the 2nd International Congress on Canine Leishmaniasis, including Prof. Lubas (chairman), Prof. Paltrinieri, Prof. Oliva, Dr. Maroli and Dr. Zini, (with the support of Dr. Gradoni and Dr. Crotti) have managed both the evaluation and reviewing of the 26 abstracts presented to be accepted to the Congress.
In the main program of the Congress nine abstracts have been selected as oral presentation

The remaining sixteen abstracts will be presented as posters
List of titles of abstracts presented as posters. Moreover, the Scientific Committee has selected the best abstract at the congress that will be awarded during the congress thanks to the contribution of Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc.

In addition, the CLWG has prepared in English language a four-pages folder, for a thorough spread by practitioners its guidelines that briefly summarized them.
Similar preparations are foreseen translating the guidelines in several other languages for a wide spreading of this information by all veterinarian practitioners in Europe

First semester 2011
In the first semester of 2011 (Feb. 11th) in Rome, the spring meeting of the CLWG has been held. The main aims were to update the guidelines of diagnosis and treatment of canine leishmaniasis in comparison to those published in 2007 and 2008, respectively. In addition, the half-day program within the mainframe of the International SCIVAC congress of Rimini has been discussed focusing on the several oral presentations to be accepted and reviewed. The criteria to award the best oral presentation for the “CLWG-Hill’s prize for the best contribution to the advancement of knowledge in leishmaniasis” have been assessed. Moreover, the resignation of Prof. Castagnaro has been accepted that were caused by institutional duties that did not allow to him to attend the activities of the CLWG.
Second semester July – December 2010
In the meeting held in Rome the last November 5th, the CLWG modified its organization, establishing two subgroups that replace the previous subgroups. The two current subgroups are so called and composed:
“Management and implementation of studies and protocols on canine leishmaniasis”, coordinated by Dr. Michele Maroli, to which all the CLWG members are affiliated,
“CLWG management and promotion” coordinated by Prof. George Lubas, which included Dr. Paola Badiale and Dr. Alberto Crotti.
Aims of the C.L.W.G. activity
The C.L.W.G. members meet every year during national S.C.I.V.A.C. congresses in May and October and their activities are coordinated by the S.I.N.U.V. (Italian Society of Veterinary Nephrology and Urology - Società Italiana di Nefrologia e Urologia Veterinaria) and by the S.I.M.I.V. (Italian Society of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Società Italiana di Medicina Interna Veterinaria).
