First semester 2011

In the first semester of 2011 (Feb. 11th) in Rome, the spring meeting of the CLWG has been held. The main aims were to update the guidelines of diagnosis and treatment of canine leishmaniasis in comparison to those published in 2007 and 2008, respectively. In addition, the half-day program within the mainframe of the International SCIVAC congress of Rimini has been discussed focusing on the several oral presentations to be accepted and reviewed. The criteria to award the best oral presentation for the “CLWG-Hill’s prize for the best contribution to the advancement of knowledge in leishmaniasis” have been assessed. Moreover, the resignation of Prof. Castagnaro has been accepted that were caused by institutional duties that did not allow to him to attend the activities of the CLWG.

Second semester July – December 2010

In the meeting held in Rome the last November 5th, the CLWG modified its organization, establishing two subgroups that replace the previous subgroups. The two current subgroups are so called and composed:

“Management and implementation of studies and protocols on canine leishmaniasis”, coordinated by Dr. Michele Maroli, to which all the CLWG members are affiliated,

“CLWG management and promotion” coordinated by Prof. George Lubas, which included Dr. Paola Badiale and Dr. Alberto Crotti.

Aims of the C.L.W.G. activity

The C.L.W.G. members meet every year during national S.C.I.V.A.C. congresses in May and October and their activities are coordinated by the S.I.N.U.V. (Italian Society of Veterinary Nephrology and Urology - Società Italiana di Nefrologia e Urologia Veterinaria) and by the S.I.M.I.V.
