The third edition of live webinar on canine leishmaniosis in this year will be presented by Dr. Silvia Benali and Dr. Xavier Roura. It will be held on September 8th, 2021, starting from 1.30 pm for about an hour, plus some time for questions. This free access webinar is organized in cooperation with Ecuphar and with the weekly journal “La Settimana Veterinaria”.
The topic will be focused on “Less common clinical aspects of canine leishmaniosis” and the two speakers will show that the clinical pictures of canine leishmaniosis are extremely variable, and the clinical symptoms could not be even evident. It should be noted that the clinico-pathological signs could be the only signs. Even more, sometimes the clinical picture is so severe that the dog should be keep in the hospital in intensive care.
Every organ or system could be theoretically affected, and the type of injury is depending on the occurrence of amastigotes and/or the deposition of circulating immunocomplexes.
In conclusion, this webinar is focused on the less common clinical presentations of canine leishmaniosis, such as those involving bones and joints, heart, and gastrointestinal apparatus. The clinical, clinico-pathological, and histopathological signs will be discussed. The final goal is to update the practitioners on these less common presentations.
