Association

In order to promote the scientific activity without interruption of the CLWG (ACS-GSLC) at the Rome meeting of February 14th 2014 the Scientific Scientific Association "Leishmaniasis Canine Study Group" was established, with a legal entity (please refer to Atto Costitutivo in Italian). This new organizational set-up will also allows, among other things, the access of new members in addition to the initial subscribers, pursuant to article #4 of the ACS-GSLC Statute (please refer to Statuto, in Italian).

Given the institutional aims of ACS-GSLC, which is non-profit-making association (as it is mentioned in Article 2 of the Statute), liberal supports are accepted from any public or private body to promote the activity. The Liberal Support Form can be requested to the Coordinator as reported in the Contacts section of this web page. The President of the ACS-GSLC in the period February 2014 - March 2015 was prof. Lubas, assisted by Dr. Maroli, as vice president and Dr. Fondati as secretary.

In the Ordinary Meeting held on March 19th, 2015 (please refer to Assemblea Ordinaria ACS-GSLC 19 marzo 2015 – Comp Cons Dir) the ACS-GSLC Steering Board has been elected and ratified as follows:

  • Vice President, Dr. Michele Maroli
  • Secretary, Dr. Alessandra Fondati

This Board of Governors was active in duty until March 18th 2018 following the Statute (as referred at the Article 15 of the Statute).In the Ordinary Meeting held on March 28th, 2015 (please refer to Assemblea Ordinaria ACS-GSLC 28 marzo 2018 – Comp Cons Dir) the ACS-GSLC Steering Board has been elected and ratified as follows:

CLWG meeting of Novarello, September 18th, 2022 Canine leishmaniosis: old and new evidence. Let’s talk together

After almost two years of scientific and continuing education del CLWG using remote connections, a scientific meeting of continuing education on site has been organized at Granozzo di Monticello, Novara whose title is “Canine leishmaniosis: old and new evidence. Let’s talk together”. To attend this meeting is necessary the registration. The planning of the meeting is organized with five presentations:

In the last issue of the well-known journal Preventive Veterinary Medicine an article from the members of Canine Leishmaniosis Working Group has been published whose title is “The knowns and unknowns of the efficacy of neem oil (Azadirachta indica) used as a preventative measure against Leishmania sand fly vectors (Phlebotomus genus)”.

In this webinar that will be held April 20th, 2022 starting at 2.00 PM for about one hour, using the web page Cogito Erg Vet, Formazione Veterinaria (Veterinary Education), both Prof. Saverio Paltrinieri and Prof. George Lubas will present data about serology in canine leishmaniosis. Indeed, serology initially with the indirect immunofluorescence test (IFT) and then with the ELISA, has been traditionally used to support the diagnosis of an infected and/or diseased dog of leishmaniosis.

In order to streamline the study above different features of canine leishmaniasis the following three subgroups have been established:
